Brian Howard started his broadcast career at a low-power AM station at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. He continued to work in radio and television as a student at Southern Utah University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree.

He took his first full-time job in television as a reporter/anchor at KPVI-TV in Pocatello, Idaho. After several years there, he left to work on a master’s degree at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

He was an assignment editor at BYU for the university’s student-run integrated television, radio, newspaper, and internet newsroom. He also worked as a producer and video editor at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah, and as a producer and director at KBYU Television. 

He accepted a teaching position at Ricks College in 1999 and helped design a four-year communication program as Ricks College transitioned to become Brigham Young University-Idaho.

Howard earned his Ph.D. in Education from the University of Idaho in 2010. He served as the Chair of the Communication Department at BYU-Idaho and as an Associate Dean of Faculty Development for the College of Business and Communication. He currently teaches courses in digital media content creation, mass media, video journalism, and broadcast performance.

He is the host and executive producer of Latter-day Profiles. This is a TV talk show featuring noteworthy members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The show airs weekly on BYU Television.
